SCHOLAR SHIPS
Victoria University of Wellington offers a range of scholarships for international students.
They are usually awarded based on four broad areas
- students’ academic merits
- scholarships for specific programs
- research scholarships
- holistic consideration (for example, GPA plus motivation letter)
The amounts offered vary, depending on the scholarship, and can assist with fees or living expenses.
TONGAREWA SCHOLARSHIP (NZ$5,000 OR NZ$10,000)
For first year of undergraduate or postgraduate degree.
AUTOMATIC MASTER’S SCHOLARSHIPS (NZ$10,000 OR NZ$17,500)
For all students who achieve entry to select taught Master’s degrees.
WELLINGTON INTERNATIONAL EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIPS (NZ$20,000)

South Asia, Southeast Asia, North Asia
The AUT International Scholarships – South Asia, Southeast Asia, North Asia – Semester 2, 2024 Intake recognise and support high-achieving international students as they begin their journey towards becoming great graduates of AUT.
Closing date: Sunday 19 May 2024
These scholarships are for international students from:
• South Asia: Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives
• Southeast Asia: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam
• North Asia: China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Mongolia, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, and Republic of Korea
International scholarships by AUT faculty
The AUT International Scholarships – Semester 2, 2024 Intake Scholarships are available to support high-achieving international students as they begin their study in eligible programmes in the following faculties and schools.

o Latin America: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru and Ecuador
