Student Visa Requirement

All international students ( excluding European Union Citizens ) must complete and take the following documents to the nearest Spanish embassy in their home country:

A: A passport valid for the total period of stay, photocopies and four recent passport-size photos.

B: Two letters of acceptance from EU (in English and Spanish)

C: Official transcripts and diploma of previous studies. Original and legally approved translation in Spanish.

D: Medical insurance covering medical and repatriation expenses for accidents or illness, valid fora minimum of one year and in all countries that apply the international agreements of suppression of border controls.

E: Proof of sufficient funds for the total period of stay.

F: Proof of accommodation in Spain for the first academic year.

G: A guarantee of return to the country of origin, such as a roundtrip ticket with a specific return date that does not exceed the authorized period of maximum stay (for studies of <6 months).

H: Parent/guardian’s authorization for travel and stay if the student is a minor.

I: Proof from the police that the applicant has no criminal record. Check the validity with the embassy.

J: Official medical certificate issued by hospitals listed with Spanish embassy valid for 3 months. Check with the embassy.
Please note that all the documents must be translated in Spanish by an official translator authorized by the Spanish embassy.

K: Proof of residence in the place of the request, as well as bonds or roots in the country of residence

L: Details of the professional and socioeconomic situation of the applicant.

M: Proof of the fulfilment of the terms of return in the case of previously granted visas
Within 30 days of arrival, students must present their visa extension application at the local immigration office in order to obtain a TIE/student residence card.

Working on a student visa in Spain: Students with a valid student residence permit are allowed to work in Spain part-time on an internship.

When Can You Start

In Spain, certain educational institutions provide three choices for enrollment:

  • Autumn: Beginning in October
  • Spring: Starting in January, serving as an alternative for those who miss the autumn intake in September
  • Summer: Available for particular programs and colleges, typically commencing around March.
